Frost scar the wintered trees, aura of defeat in the air

The river is still, held in place by November's loss
All is faded gray, and darkens
As the sun slipped away beyond the horizon

And you went away. Silently closed the door
Not unlike the wind, returned to the sky

Now I sit alone, alone and jaded before the river
Withered and broken, like the years

There are no stars above tonight
No moon, no sky to be my solace
No leaves, no trees to protect my soul
No longer lost below this winter

And now I am with you.
